

Layton Davis, Sr., 84, of Van Buren, passed away Friday, June 30, 2017 at Memory Lane at Legacy Heights surrounded by his loving family. He was a 1952 graduate of Alma High School, and served his country in the Navy during the Korean War. He retired from Hickory Springs Manufacturing, and was a member of CrossPointe Community Church in Van Buren.
The youngest of ten, Layton was born June 17, 1933 in Dyer to the late Leonard and Lizzie Mae Davis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight brothers, Willie, Georgie, Silas, Dudgeon, John Paul, Lloyd, Clyde, and Delmar; a sister Ceicle; and a grandson, Stewart Sargent III.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bonnie of the home; two daughters, Bonnie Kay Reel and husband Ronnie of Russellville, and Pam Bennett and husband Clay of Poteau; three sons, Stewart Sargent of Little Rock, Randy Davis and wife Claudia of Greenwood, and Layton Davis Jr. and wife Tammy of Hackett; eleven grandchildren, eighteen great- grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at the CrossPointe Community Church at 3304 Kibler Hwy in Van Buren with interment to follow at Dyer Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
Pallbearers will be Jessie Harrison, Daron Harrison, Matt Bennett, Dennis Johnson, Preston Turner and Alec Berry. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Morland, Carol Redwine, and Enoch Diffy.
Family will visit with friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at Edwards Van Alma Funeral Home at 4100 Alma Highway in Van Buren.
