Marion Gentry

Marion Albert “Papa” Gentry, 90, passed this life Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the Glenwood Hospital in West Monroe, LA. He was born July 9, 1924 to Albert P. and Mary C. Gentry of Rudy, Arkansas. He was a retired oilfield worker with 37 years service for Standard Oil of Ohio Company. He was a Perpetual Member of the Talladega Lodge No. 201 AF & AM and Past Worshipful Master of the Piedmont Lodge of Piedmont OK. He was a member of the 81 Freewill Baptist Church of Rudy, AR.

He is survived by a daughter, Mary Hastey and husband Ronnie of Simsboro, LA; a brother, Howard Gentry and wife Odessa of Van Buren; a special friend, June Lott of Van Buren; and grandchildren, Rex and Stacy Hastey of Morris, OK, Ronda and James Allred of Morris , OK, and Reed and Amber Hastey of Bixby, OK. “Papa” was very proud of his six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Chapel with burial to follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Hastey Family Cemetery near Morris, OK, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.

Pallbearers will be members of the Talladega Lodge of Henryetta, Oklahoma.

The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2014 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Hwy, Van Buren, AR.
