

Marvin Smith, 77, of Alma, AR, died Sunday, February 12, 2012 in Alma, AR. He was born March 31, 1934 in Winslow, AR. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Fort Smith for 22 years, served in the Army for 22 years and was in the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts and retired as a Sergeant 1st Class, received two commendation medals and was a member of Center Point Freewill Baptist Church where he was a Deacon. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Suzan Babcock.
He is survived by his wife, Corlene Smith of the home, a daughter, Lora Graves of Boaz, AL; two sons, Robert Smith of Fort Smith, AR and Scott Smith of Little Rock, AR; three sisters Melba Squires of Van Buren, AR, Jimmie Shelly of Van Buren, AR, and Nancy Parrish of German Town, TN; 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be 11:30 A.M. Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren with burial at Fort Smith National Cemetery with military honors under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren, AR.
The family will receive friends from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren.
