

Michael John Burdick, 84, of Alma, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2025 in Van Buren. He was born June 9, 1940 in Lemmon, SD to the late Edward and Dorothy (Ginther) Burdick. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, he served on the USS Endurance, and had been stationed in Guam. He had worked in Human Resources at Whirlpool, was active with St. Michael’s Veterans Group and Bible Study, and was a former youth sports coach.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Burdick.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary (Myers) Burdick; a daughter, Kellie Burdick of Plymouth, MN; two sons, Bo Burdick and wife Christie of Greeley, CO, and Tim Burdick and wife Michelle of Kansas City, MO; four sisters, Mary Margaret Thomas of Rapid City, SD, Ann Mohammed and husband Mati of Rochester, MN, Janet Dingle and husband Jim of Minnesota, and Beth Gibeau of Denver, CO; three brothers, John Burdick of Rapid City, Paul Burdick and wife Judy of Rapid City, and David Burdick and wife Josephine of Riverside, CA; thirteen grandchildren, Daniel, Lee, Nathan, Kaleb, Gabriel, Drake, Joshua, Paige, Chaise, Zaine, Justus, Evan, and Harper; and ten great-grandchildren, Emily Grace, Jackson, Lauren, Katherine, Harrison, Maverick, Owen, Ember, Caroline, and Isabella.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 20, 2025 at St. Michael Catholic Church with interment to follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Fort Smith National Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
Pallbearers will be family.
The family will visit with friends beginning at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2025, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church at 1025 East Pointer Trail in Van Buren.
