Rebecca “Becky” Jane Jeffers, 74, of Alma, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2023 peacefully at her home. Becky was born on July 18, 1948, in Fort Smith to John "Jack" Harrison Bryan and Hilda Florene (Chrisman) Bryan. She graduated from Northside High School in 1966 and was a member of the Delta Beta Sigma Sorority. Becky spent her adult life as a wife, mother, sister, and nanny to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was wildly creative and enjoyed cooking, painting, sketching portraits, fashion and music. Her love for cooking was often shared in her coveted Christmas fudge packages and her highly anticipated broccoli and cheese casserole during the holidays. As an avid Elvis enthusiast, she loved rocking to the oldies. Later in life, she developed a passion for line dancing where she could run circles around everyone on the dance floor. She wasn’t afraid to try anything at least once and always had an opinion or advice for anyone that would listen. She was a bargain hunter like no other and could always find the best deals when it came to shopping. Becky had a love of Dr. Pepper and a knack for moving everyone’s drinks around at family gatherings, so no one knew whose was whose, including her own.
Her love of sarcasm, singing, dancing, and creativity will be deeply missed by her family and loved ones.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Candi Sue Russell, Margaret Jo Proctor, and Shirley Ann Shumate.
She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Charles “Chuck” Jeffers; a daughter, Debra Jeffers of North Carolina; four sons, Charles “Bubba” Jeffers (Tracy) of Tomball, TX, William John McCarthy and Michael Scott McCarthy both of Fort Smith, and Thomas “TJ” Jeffers (Karen) of Alma; a sister, Judy Titsworth of Pottsville; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2023 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation is under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
