Alison Melissa Laverne Lewis Sunrise: December 21, 1992 – Sunset: December 22, 2021

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Alison Melissa Laverne Lewis. She was born December 21, 1992 at BC Women’s Hospital, and passed away in North Vancouver Hospice on December 22, 2021 surrounded by family. Allison had Acardi Syndrome and Cerebral Palsy she was a beautiful soul enduring many health complications in her lifetime.

Allison is survived by her father Earl Lewis (Shelley), brothers Aaron Marchant (Nancy), Ferguson Lewis, Ben Gaitskell (Jennifer) and her sister Charlene Gaitskell Underhill (Mike). Her nephews and niece, Javen Marchant, Trinity Gaitskell, Logan Gaitskell, Evan Gaitskell and Liam Underhill. Uncles Lorne “Patrick” Lewis (Adeline), Ross Filpula (Sylvia), Darryl Filpula (Fay) and Warren Filpula, auntie Cheryl “Janie” Williams. She will be dearly missed by her housemates at Nancy Greene Way House Robyn, Alex and Andrew.

She was a bright spark in this world and will be deeply missed by many. Those who connected with Allison understood her love for food and she would certainly show her feelings of happiness by gently pounding her hand on her wheelchair. In 2011 Allison graduated from Carson Graham high school she enjoyed music, swimming and bowling.

A thank you to the caregivers Andi, Araya, Noel, Paula, Jimi, Charito, Amanda, Olivia, Garry, Manpreet, Alejandra, Nick, Vivian, Lilan, Cherry, Kenneth, Vivian, Michelle, Kelly, and Betty at Nancy Greene Way House. Each of you provided Allison’s last year of her life a loving home. Her legacy is she taught patience to everyone that met her and Allison’s life journey she demonstrated endurance for a fragile young woman she was a strong individual.

On behalf of the Lewis family a thank you to Lions Gate Hospital doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals in Emergency, 7 East Neurosciences, ICU, 7 East Neuro Critical Care Unit, 7 West Palliative Care and North Shore Hospice. Your dedication brought ease as Allison faced many medical complications, thank you for the kindness, patience, and expertise.
