

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, cousin, and uncle. Andreas passed away peacefully on April 29, 2025, in the presence of his loved ones.
Andreas was born in Panayitsa, Arkadia, Greece, to Triantafillos Groumoutis and Athanasia Petropoulos, on February 25, 1941. He was the youngest of five children.
He immigrated to Canada in 1965 to join his family, after serving for 2.5 years in the Hellenic Air Force and working in the construction industry in Athens. He built a new life in Vancouver, working in the restaurant industry for many years, where he enjoyed meeting people from all walks of life and made many friends.
Andreas lived the last 15 years of his life with ALS courageously. His spirit and determination never wavered. He was known for his sense of humour, his love of life, and his devotion to his family.
Andreas is predeceased by his siblings Constantina, Antonios, Apostolos, and George. He is survived by his wife, Athanassia; children Christopher (Krisztina), Triantafillos (Sophia), Eleni, Constantina, Ioannis (Samantha); grandchildren Marcus, Lucas, Katerina, and Hendrik; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A prayer service will be held on Monday, May 12 at 7 p.m., and the funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 13 at 11:00 a.m., both at St. George’s Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 4500 Arbutus Street, Vancouver. Following the funeral service, internment will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Burnaby.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the ALS Society of BC.
