Andrija Marinkovic

MARINKOVIC, Andrija

December 14, 1921 - January 17, 2017

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my dear father Andrija Marinkovic. I am proud to say that he lived to the age of 95 despite having had to battle many illnesses over the years. He is survived by his son Nick and predeceased by his wife Marija (Alenka), parents Antunij and Ivka, sisters Katica and Vinka and brother Nikica.

Andrija was born in Komiza, Otok Vis, Croatia. He became a fisherman there at a young age and continued fishing after arriving in Canada in 1957. He excelled at his work and earned the respect and admiration of his fellow fisherman. His only desires in life were to live in freedom and be able to provide for his family both in the old country and here in Canada. He achieved both objectives and lived out his remaining years with the satisfaction of knowing he was loved by his family and friends.

Prayers will be offered Wednesday, January 25 at 7:00 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Croatian Church , 3105 East 1st Avenue, Vancouver, B.C. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, January 26 at 10:00 a.m. also at Immaculate Heart of Mary Croatian Church. Father Slaven Milanovic Litre will be the Celebrant. Entombment will follow at “The Abbey” in Ocean View Burial Park, 4000 Imperial St. Burnaby, B.C. Funeral arrangements by Glenhaven Memorial Chapel, 604-255-5444.
