Arthur Bertram Charles Lakis

Arthur was a very gentle loving soul. He is predeceased by his parents Barbara & Arthur Lagis, sister Vera, & daughter Christina. He is survived his love and mother of his four children Melinda , his daughter Alana (Levi) & sons Jesse (Brooke) & Arthur (Leanne), his sister Maryanne, brothers Kevin and Thomas as well grandchildren Austin, Jordie, Trinity, Shaylie, Leah, Katie, Kierra, Arthur, Daisy, Fury & Everly.

Arthur was a talented and proud Kwakwaka'wakw carver in his earlier years, using the same tools he inherited from his father Arthur Sr. He had a deep knowledge and respect for his family traditions. He worked for over 20 years at Dream Carpets to provide for his family.

He always put his family first and always expressed his love and pride in his children and grandchildren. His happiness was spending time with family joking and sharing laughs. He always had a quirky quote for everything, one of his favourite saying was “I’m a man not a mouse”. He was never afraid to be himself. His childlike personality shone through when it came to spending time with his children and grandchildren while having fun, he would join in no matter if he was climbing the playground structures, playing video game’s or playing quietly with toys. One thing we will miss is his wise and gentle advice on life. Arthur loved music, he was always listening to music as loud as he could. He always seen the good in life. His opinions on life were deep and he enjoyed having intelligent conversations.

Arthur was loved deeply by family and friends. His presence will be greatly missed.

A cremation will take place and our family would like to ask for distant prayers, smudging and traditional songs to be dedicated to him at that time. Announcements of the date and time will be sent by Facebook, email, phone & Instagram.

Our family would like to inform everyone due to the current Covid-19 pandemic a memorial service will not be held until this pandemic has ended. We will make announcements on Facebook, Instagram, email and phone.
