Bing Kent Jang passed away peacefully in Vancouver at the age of 81. In his final days, he was surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Cindy; his 4 children, Randy (Elizabeth), Wendy (David), Trudy (Dave), and Sandy (Kevin); and 3 grandchildren, Erika, Zachary, and Russell, with whom he adored. He is also survived by his siblings, Ken, Warren, Lee, Sue, Don, and Kit.
Born in Enping in Guangdong, China, Bing was raised in Duncan, BC, and moved to Vancouver in 1967 with his wife and young children. He worked various jobs before driving and owning a taxi for over 25 years. He undeniably kept busy, taking pride in doting over his home, listening to the oldies, and watching his favourite classic programs. He spent over 50 years in East Vancouver and loved his neighbourhood. He particularly enjoyed chatting with his neighbours. Given his natural handyman skills, he never hesitated to lend a hand helping out family or neighbours with various home projects. After he retired, he and his wife took delight spending time with their grandchildren, hosting elaborate family dinners, and traveling, particularly taking family cruise vacations.
The family wishes to thank the supportive and caring staff at St. James Cottage Hospice. In lieu of flowers and in gratitude, donations may be made to the following charities:
