Chanh Ly

It is with great sadness that the family of Mr. Chanh Ly announces his passing. Mr. Ly went to be with the Lord on May 24th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will forever be held dear by those who knew him.

Born on November 1st, 1953, in Soc Trang, Vietnam, he was determined to seek a better life for his family and immigrated to Canada with his wife and three older children on May 4th, 1984, with the fourth child born shortly after in Vancouver, BC. He embodied resilience and courage, overcoming numerous challenges to build a new life in Canada.

Mr. Ly was a beloved husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, trusted friend, and dedicated Christian who found great joy in spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Thuy, with whom he shared many wonderful years of love and companionship, as well as his four children: Peter and wife Thao, Linda, John and, wife Irene, Van and husband John. He will also be remembered fondly by his grandchildren: Samantha, Taylor, Max, Charlotte, Olivia, and Emmalyn.

Mr. Ly was a pillar of strength and support for his family, whom he always cared for deeply. In his role as a grandparent, he found immeasurable joy and fulfillment in playing with his grandchildren and he cherished every moment he spent with them. He was also the brother who could always be counted on, offering unwavering love and support whenever he was needed.

In addition to being a dedicated family man, he was involved in his church community and lived out his faith through service and fellowship. He found solace and purpose in his spiritual life, drawing strength and inspiration from his Christian beliefs.

He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but his spirit and legacy will live on in the hearts and memories of those he touched. Though he may be gone from our sight, he will forever remain in our hearts and be remembered for his kindness and unwavering love and support. May he rest in eternal peace.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate Mr. Chanh Ly's life will be held on Friday, May 31st, 2024 at 11:00 am at Hamilton Harron Funeral Home, 5390 Fraser Street in Vancouver, BC.
