Daniel was born to his parents on November 20, 1961 in Hill City, Kansas, USA. Following a short battle with cancer he passed away peacefully at Lion’s Gate Hospital in North Vancouver on September 15, 2015 at around 2:00 am. He was surrounded by love of family and friends. Danny came to North Vancouver in the early eighties where he met his love Peggy May Johnston from Mission IR#1. Shortly after that they settled down and raised a beautiful family of boys and it’s remembered he especially loved the times when he could gather with family and friends for a meal or holiday celebration. Danny by trade was a carpenter, an avid collector of model cars, motorcycles but can best be remembered for his love of Mustang cars that over the years collect, rebuild, trade and rebuild again; he even a Harley motorcycle.
Danny is survived by and will be deeply missed by his loving wife Peggy May Johnston; sons Larry Thomas Kelso (Serena), Joseph Daniel Kelso (Amber), Michael Jerry Montecalvo (Crystal); father Larry Kelso; mother Mary Frances (nee Baldwin) Tangen (Gordon); sister Megan Kelso; brother Clinton Tangen. He will also be dearly missed by his mother in law Lila May (nee Lewis) Johnston, in-laws Ivan Gary Johnston, Jerry Thomas Johnston, Wendy Margaret Charbonneau, Anna Jean Johnston, Craig Matthew Johnston, Curtis Herman Johnston, Tracey Colleen Johnston, Denny John Johnston; and his best friend Michael Bulger.
Prayers will be held at St. Paul's Indian Catholic Church, 424 West Esplanade, North Vancouver on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 7:30pm, where a Catholic Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 18th at 10:00 am. Burial to follow at Mission IR#1 Cemetery immediately following the funeral service. Arrangements entrusted to Glenhaven Memorial Chapel, 604-255-5444
