It is with great sadness we advise the passing of Danny Arthur Smith. He passed peacefully sung home to the ancestors, surrounded by his family on August 10, 2023, at St. Paul’s Hospital. Danny was born on August 3, 1953, at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, BC, to his parents Harvey Gonzales and Lehua Lavina Smith (nee: Gordon). He was raised in Burnaby, BC, by his late parents Lehua and Victor Smith. He attended Cascade Elementary School, and Moscrop Jr. High School. After graduation he attended Vancouver Community College completing the Electric Technician Program. His certification took him to many great workplaces he started his career with CP Rail, he then worked many years as the Gondola technician at Grouse Mountain, while working for Grouse Mountain he became friends with the owner, and they were looking for ideas to vamp up their tourism and he suggested music and it has been since then they have had live music. In his later years he worked for ABC Linen. One of his pastimes was being a sound tech for Pow Wows, and Squamish Nation Events. The family recalls him traveling to Mount Currie to assist at their annual Pow Wow. Danny loved music and knew how to play the guitar, harmonica, and dabbled with the keyboard. When in Vancouver he would play with Bitterly Divine. He carried his slider wherever he went. He is known for his fun loving, caring compassionate nature and was there for anyone when they needed.

Danny is survived by his wife Ginger Schooner; children Sean Smith, Nathan Joe, Danielle Joe; his siblings Jacqueline Gonzales, Jerome Gonzales, Janine Gonzales, Stewart Gonzales, Norma Brooks, Lani Booth, Gordie Smith, Victor Smith, Robert ‘Bob’ Smith, Gerry Smith and many nieces, nephews loving family members and friends.
