David Randolph "Randy" Chambers (or "the Dolph," as his sons liked to call him) passed away May 15, 2025, at the age of 72, following a courageous battle with cancer.
An exceptional athlete, Randy was a standout baseball player and curler, admired for his talent, tenacity and leadership. Off the field, he was a doting grandfather, dedicated dad, grateful husband, supportive brother, loyal friend, mischievous prankster, and relentless seeker of a good deal. Kind, upbeat and dignified to the very end, life owed Randy nothing, though we wish dearly he were still here.
Randy was predeceased by his parents, Honor and Jim, and his siblings, Craig and Lindsey. He is deeply mourned by his beloved wife, Carol-Anne; his children, Chris (Ariel), J-P (Monique), and Matt (Jess); his cherished grandchildren, Charlie, Hazel, Henry, and Lewis; his siblings, Jay (Muffet) and Shelley (Dave); his nieces, Ashley, Jillian, Robin and their families; and many treasured friends and relatives.
A service to celebrate Randy's life will be held at Shaughnessy Heights United Church in Vancouver on Saturday, July 5th, at 2:00 p.m. All who knew him are welcome to attend and encouraged to wear uniforms, jerseys or other regalia in honour of cherished moments shared on, or off, the field.
The service will be streamed live for those unable to attend in person. A viewing link will be available on the church's website at the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Randy's memory may be made to Kids Sport Canada or the BC Cancer Foundation.
Remember Me by Margaret Mead
To the living, I am gone,
To the sorrowful, I will never return,
To the angry, I was cheated,
But to the happy, I am at peace,
And to the faithful, I have never left.
I cannot speak, but I can listen.
I cannot be seen, but I can be heard.
So as you stand upon a shore gazing at a beautiful sea,
As you look upon a flower and admire its simplicity,
Remember me.
Remember me in your heart:
Your thoughts, and your memories,
Of the times we loved,
The times we cried,
The times we fought,
The times we laughed.
For if you always think of me, I will never have gone.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.MountPleasantFuneral.com for the Chambers family.
