Denise Michaela Helin

Denise (Neesie) was born October 31, 1987. She was Nle?kepmx (her mom’s tribe), and Tsimshian (her Dad)’s tribe). Since she came from two different cultural groups, her crest was the Bear (mom) and Killer Whale (dad).

Denise loved gathering with her family for special events—inquiring when the next big dinner was going to be, who would be there, and what was being served! On visits to her Dad a visit she would often raid his freezer for halibut or salmon, and have someone cook it up for her. When in Merritt she would coax some deer meat out of her Uncle Soup (explaining how her little freezer was quite empty and how a couple good sized deer steaks would fill it up perfectly).

She had a natural affinity toward animals, she adored them and they adored her. You could easily find yourself helping a spider up the stairs because Neesie refused to kill it. Litters of kittens would arrive rather unexpectedly, much to her Dad's chagrin!

Neesie could read a novel in two to three days. Her favorite TV host was Stephen Colbert and her favorite comedian was Trevor Noah. She was not above catching a few Desperate Housewives episodes however and comparing the characters to real life people!

Neesie was dearly loved by all of her friends. She is described as being loyal, having a heart of gold, having a fierce love of life, a wicked sense of humour, and was always on the go. She touched many people and she will be dearly missed by all. ❤
