On January 16, 2020, Earl passed at his home and was reunited with his parents. Earl’s father was an international banker whose work took him to major cities across Asia. Earl was born in Bangkok, Thailand on January 26, 1950 and spent his early childhood there.
In 1956, Earl moved with his family to Saigon, Vietnam where he attended grade school at The American Community School. In 1961, the Liu family moved to Kobe, Japan where Earl attended high school years up to Grade 11 at the Canadian Academy international school. The Liu family moved for the last time to Vancouver, BC in 1967, where Earl graduated from Sir Winston Churchill Secondary in 1968.
Earl worked at Canada Post where he met his wife, Connie. After 36 years with the postal service, Earl retired in 2010. Earl enjoyed retired life with Connie, and took pleasure in their daily walks along the river with their beloved husky, Frankie.
Earl is predeceased by his father, Jeffrey Liu, and mother, Diana Liu. He will be forever missed by his wife Connie Squire, his sister Ellen Liu, his brother Edwin Liu (sister-in-law Rosemary Liu, and nieces Lesley Liu and Natalie Liu). He will also be lovingly remembered by his wide circle of friends.
A celebration of life will be held at Glenhaven Memorial Chapel, 1835 East Hastings Street in Vancouver on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations to the BCSPCA or to Wounded Warriors Canada will be gratefully accepted.
