*note: Simon & Kit Ming are listed… they were very close. When their mother Po Lin passed away when the children were very young (5 & 7’ish), Fung Lin stepped up and helped raise them with their brother in law…becoming a 2nd mom to them. Although Elsie & ADA left for Canada very young, they remained especially close to this niece & nephew.

Elsie came to Canada in the early 70’s. Enrolling in business classes and working for banks… working primarily for the Band of Montreal for her working career.

She supported a Chinese class that ran for many years and where she established many long term friendships.

She enjoyed meeting up with her friends, going on many short and longer out of country tour trips with my dad as well as with girlfriends.

She supported my dad’s Tai Chi in numerous ways. She enjoyed and practiced yoga for many years. She loved taking classes and learning new things whether they were about new languages, or classes for seniors on online safety and how to use tablets. She had a deep appreciation and enjoyment of art and history. She visited the Chinatown storytelling centre a few times and loved walking the Dr Sun Yat-Sen Gardens.

While she could drive, she was an avid bus rider and knew the local bus routes and schedules off by heart! She loved being centrally located and how easy it was for her to get to almost anywhere she needed by bus.

Elsie was very friendly and great conversationalist, easily picking up friends and keeping them for many long years.

A very special thank you to the Vancouver Hospice Society. Elsie was only there for 3 short weeks. She loved her “small studio apartment”, she talked many times about the delicious meals, and most importantly the very caring and kind staff and volunteers that made her last weeks of life as comfortable as possible.

She will be greatly missed by many and all who knew and loved her.
