AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Florence Maud Hody

Avis de décès de Florence Maud Hody
AUX SOINS DE

Mount Pleasant Universal Funeral Home

HODY, Florence Maud (Flo), age 70 passed away in Vancouver General Hospital, on November 10, after a long struggle with cancer. The eldest child of Reg Hody and Dr. Maud Hody, Flo was born in Moncton in 1954, graduated from Moncton High school in 1972, and attended Mount Allison University before heading west and winding up in Vancouver, her ancestral home. She worked in social services with youth before needing to leave due to severe mental health issues while still in her twenties; but was well looked after in an apartment building supported by coastal health. Flo was also a poet, a writer, a dreamer, and even though there were periods of her illness where she couldn’t put pen to paper, always returned to poetry as her comfort. Flo was a person with a great capacity of love, who cared about everyone, and who loved her family.

Flo was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her brothers David (Reg), William, her sister Laura, and sister-in-law Eileen Ross. She is survived by her partner Joe Smith, her sister-in-law Pam Griffin-Hody (Halifax), nephew Max and niece Arden.

Many thanks to the staff of VGH 7th Floor over the past few months.

To honour Flo, write a poem, hug a friend, or call a loved one.
