

November 13, 1948 – March 27, 2015
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Gerald ‘Jerry’ Richard Nahanee affectionately remember as ‘Kanaka’. Jerry passed away at 12:30 am on March 27, 2015 and was surrounded by the love of family and friends. Jerry can best be remembered as a tremendous support to Squamish family and friends. He worked with the Nation’s Mosquito Creek Marina for 41 years. He volunteered, coordinated and masterminded many projects and was forever involved with Squamish Nation Pow Wow, Capilano and Seymour Longhouses, St. Paul’s Indian Catholic Church, North Van Canoe Club, Marie Legionis Canoe Club and Tribal Journeys with Kxwu7lh. Jerry was a phenomenal community spirited man and Squamish has indeed been honoured and thankful for all he did for our families and relatives.
Jerry is survived by and will be missed by his loving mother Alfreda Nahanee (nee Thorne); Loving wife of 45 years Theresa Anne Nahanee (nee: Thomas); children Amy Nahanee Baker (Toby) and John Nahanee (Robin); grandchildren Emily, Bradley, Ty, Darris, Aliza, Lindsay and Ivan; brothers Keith (Gloria), Scott and Tony; sisters Sheila (Gary), Ruth, Jan Baker (Wilfred Sr.), Eileen Guss, Fran (Darren), Grace VanTunen, Joyce, Sue, and Faye Yelton (Darren); and mother-In-law Rose Thomas.
A prayer service will be held on March 29, 2015 (Sunday) at 7:00 pm and a Funeral Service on March 30, 2015 (Monday) both at
