It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our son, father and brother Harold ‘Bits’ Baker. He is predeceased by his mother Frances “Pauline” Baker (nee: Bee). Harold passed away surrounded by the love of his family at Lion’s Gate Hospital. He is survived by his wife Laura ‘Lori’ Lee Viss; children Robert (Laura Stagg), Frances (Josh Beck), step-children Phillip Morris and Joshua Billy; grandchildren Damien and Simone. Harold will also be dearly missed by his father Robert Baker (Shirley Toman); sisters Christine (Randy) and Brenda (Peter) and brother Danny (Sheryl). Harold will be remembered for his trademark: wearing his black hat everywhere he went. His lifelong passion was working with his hands, creating traditional First Nation artworks and carvings. He lived in Squamish his entire life and had many friends from the community. His kindness and adventurous view about life growing up encouraged those he touched to be free spirited and courageous. Harold embraced his rich culture of the Skwxú7mesh Úxwumixw and Kwak'wala people and most of all, he loved his family unconditionally.
A prayer service will be held 7:00 pm on Friday, May 23 and a funeral service 10:00 am on Saturday, May 23 both at Totem Hall, 1380 Stawamus Road, Highway 99, Squamish, BC. Online condolences may be seen at www.dignitymemorial.com.
