Hung-Shing Willy Chan

Willy Hung Shing Chan, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2023, at the age of 92, in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Born in Hong Kong in 1930, Willy was the son of a hard-working family. He immigrated to Vancouver in 1972 with a dream of providing a better life for his family.

Willy is survived by his wife and children. He met the love of his life, Doris, at church and they were married in 1959. Together they raised a beautiful family of three children: Yvonne (Felix), John (Zerlina), and Ken (Veronica). Willy was a devoted husband and father who worked tirelessly to provide for his family, and he took great joy in spending time with his seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His family meant everything to him.

Willy was a man of strong faith and served God until almost 90 years old. He was an active member of His home church and found great joy in singing. With his deep bass voice, he was skilled in singing traditional hymns, Gospel Chinese Opera music, and conducting the choir. He and his wife organized and performed together in many concerts, and he continued singing until the very end. Willy also found great joy in photography. With his camera, he captured may beautiful moments of his family and friends.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the healthcare team at Mount Saint Joseph Long Term Care for their compassionate care during Willy's final days.

A celebration of Willy's life will be held on Wednesday, April 22, at 3 pm at South Vancouver Pacific Grace MB Church. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to CCM (Chinese Christian Mission) Vancouver or UGM (Union Gospel Mission), causes that were close to Willy's heart. Willy will be remembered for his unwavering faith, love for family, and his beautiful voice. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on forever in the hearts of those he touched.

陳鴻勝先生於2023年4月5日安息主懷，享年九十二歲。陳鴻勝1930年出生在香港，祖籍中國廣東新會，在1972年舉家移民溫哥華，期盼給家人更安定生活和學業機會。

陳鴻勝先生在教會邂逅伍瑞芙，成為他一生摯愛，在1959年共結連理，育有一女二子，長女倩儀（羅君明）和兒子俊儀（程仲怡）、健儀（陳婉玲）。他一生為賢夫良父，為家庭晨興夜寐，在七位孫兒和兩位曾孫心裏，他是慈祥的祖父和曾祖父。

陳鴻勝先生少年受洗歸主，一生忠心侍主不懈，榮神益人。他藉神所賜一嗓渾厚的低音，在教會詩班積極事奉，夫婦二人藉福音粵曲，在各教會、中信中心和社區中心使多人得聞福音，領人歸主。陳鴻勝先生一生熱愛攝影，拍攝了無數與家人和朋友美麗瞬間的回憶。

家人衷心感謝聖若瑟長期護理中心的醫療團隊在陳鴻勝先生住院和善終期間，給予悉心關懷和護理。

陳鴻勝先生的生命禮讚將於4月22日星期三下午3點在南溫哥華基督教頌恩堂舉行。
