
April 10, 1930 – January 19, 2024
Ian passed away peacefully in Vancouver, B.C. at the age of 93. He leaves behind 2 children, Stacey, and Mitchell; his 6 grandchildren, Aynsley, Maya, Brooklyn, Madison, Tanner, and Vanessa. Ian was predeceased by his former wife Sonia 1984 and daughter Paige 2015.
A Vancouver native, Ian retired in 1990 as a partner of Ernst and Young (formerly Clarkson Gordon) after over 39 years of practice in Vancouver and Toronto. Ian attended the University of British Columbia and was formerly elected a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
Ian spent a great amount of time on contributions and community service. Some of his endeavors included: President, Director of Boy and Girls Club of Canada, President, B.C. Cancer Foundation, President, B.C Sports Hall of Fame, Chairman founding President, U.B.C. Thunderbird Society, Trustee, Westbrook Society, Director, Vancouver Symphony, President B.C. Government House Foundation, Director Vancouver Police Board/Foundation, Director Pacific Alzheimer Research Foundation.
In addition to his community service, Ian was a supporter and fundraiser for the Social Credit party and acted as party trustee under Bill Bennett. Ian was an avid rugby player, football player, squash player, and avid runner. Ian loved his gang at the Vancouver Lawn and Tennis Club and could usually be found in the snake pit with Garde and the boys.
Ian’s family appreciates expressions of support and asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the B.C. Cancer Foundation.
