

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, uncle, mentor and friend James Ackah passed away suddenly on December 27, 2015 in Vancouver at the age of 69. James is survived by his loving family including his wife of 45 years, Beatrice, mother, Lucy, daughters, Evelyn and Audrey (husband Bobby Chan), and his grandchildren Lauryn and Nathaniel. James will also be missed by his 3 sisters, 4 brothers and other relatives in Ghana, the United States, and Italy.
James was born in Ghana in 1946 and made Vancouver his home in 1972. Prior to his retirement in 2012, James worked as an automotive technician for Capilano Volkswagen. James was actively involved in volunteering and fundraising for various organizations in the community including the Ghanaian Canadian Association of BC, the Knights of Columbus, St. Andrew’s Parish, St. Joseph’s Parish and the Korle-Bu Neuroscience Foundation. James had a great sense of humour and passion for current affairs. He was quick-witted, hard working, honest, reliable and generous. He was a trusted advisor who cherished his relationships with family and friends. James had an infectious smile and wonderful laugh. James will be missed dearly.
An evening prayer service will be held on January 14th at 8 pm. at St. Andrew’s Parish, at 480 East 47th Avenue in Vancouver B.C. The funeral service for James will take place on Friday, January 15th at 10:30 am. at the same location.
