Jean Elaine Macleod

March, 24, 1933 - January 20, 2018

Jean was born in Cleveland Ohio and emigrated to Canada at the age of 14. She attended Prince of Wales High School, UBC and graduated from the VGH School of Nursing in September 1955, winning the Pediatric Nursing award. She served as Constituency Assistant to the Honourable John Fraser MP for 12 years, was a member of the Federal Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada from 1985 to 1993, and was awarded the Confederation of Canada Medal in 1992. During her working career Jean was a member of the Board of Directors at Holy Family Hospital and after retirement she volunteered for Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.

Predeceased by parents Leon and Daisy Hickernell and sister Betty Ann and survived by loving husband of 61 years John, daughters Susan (Ken) and Cathy, sons David (Betty) and Tim (Bahar), Grandchildren Nicole (Aki), Michelle, Jaclyn, Taisha (Grant), Stuart (Catie), Thomas and Olivia, Great Grandchildren Daniel, Isobella, Angus and Marshall.

A memorial celebration will be held at Shaughnessy Heights United Church on February 19, 2018 at 2:00 pm.
