Jean Eleanor Roberts

Born in Calgary in 1912 to John & Jesse Hornby, Jean died peacefully on 5 September 2013 in Vancouver. She graduated from Guelph Agricultural College and worked as a dietician. Jean married Dorland Roberts and they operated the Lakeview House in Cobourg. Dorland and their only child Joan predeceased her, as did her favourite Uncle Dunc (Kay) Sutherland, brothers Bill (Edythe) Wilson, and Jack Hornby, sister Kay (Norval) Lambert, and cousins Joe and Margaret Gunn. Jean moved to Vancouver in 1968 to help care for her grandchildren. She worked at Teachers’ Credit Union and Vancity and volunteered at Shaughnessy Hospital. Jean is survived by son in law Adrian Grant Duff, grandsons Brian (Sarah) and Kevan, and great grandchildren Thor Paulson and Sheila Grant Duff, and the McCann, Skold, and Wilson families. Special thanks to the staff and nurses at Fair Haven for their kindness and care. A memorial service will be held at St Mary’s Anglican Church,, Kerrisdale on Friday, October 4th.
