January 2 1920 – February 20 2019
Jessie died peacefully at the Purdy Pavilion in Vancouver where she received exemplary care over several years. She was predeceased by her brother Richard (Dick) and sister Elizabeth (Betty) Mackenzie. She is survived by her nephew Kenneth Mackenzie of Vancouver and niece Elizabeth Topping of Penticton.
Jessie was born in Edson Alberta and moved to New Westminster at an early age. She served in the Canadian Army during World War II and returned to a career of over thirty years in the lighting department of Canadian General Electric in Vancouver. Jessie was an ardent and skilled nature photographer, and served on the executive of several photographic organizations.
Jesse retired to Peachland with her sister Betty. They spent many happy years in a house of their design with a commanding view of Lake Okanagan where they welcomed family and friends. They both enjoyed travel and spent much time driving the highways and byways of Canada and the United States, and they would often return to Vancouver for birthdays and holidays with the extended family.
There will be a private family memorial later on the spring in the Okanagan.
