Hannah was predeceased by her husband Bill (1990) and her 11 siblings, and is survived by her daughters Priscilla and Colleen, numerous nieces, nephews and many, many friends. Hannah never met a stranger – she loved to talk to people and was an amazing caregiver to many neighbors and friends. She was the first to offer her help to anyone who needed it.
Hannah grew up on a farm in Brokenhead, Manitoba. Because she was the youngest of 12 children, her sisters were responsible for raising her. When she was a young girl, she moved to Beausejour with her parents when they sold the farm. She lived in Beausejour until 18, when she decided that she wanted to expand her horizons.
Hannah’s love for travel and exploring started at an early age. At 18, she moved to Toronto for a few years. When her father became ill, she moved back home for a while. Once he recovered, it was time for her to move again. This time she headed to the West Coast. She ended up in Vancouver, where she got a job, an apartment and a full social life. She met her husband Bill at a dance hall. They were wed in 1951 and settled into married life and raising children. Her love for travel may have slowed down but was never far away. After Bill passed away in 1990, she decided to go back to her love of travelling. She travelled all over the world – the more exotic places, the better. She travelled all over Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and South America. She loved to share her travelling experiences and all the people she met along the way. When she was home though, she enjoyed her Walking Club, her exercise classes, coffee with friends, working in her garden and visiting the Casino!
Mom was an amazing woman, and the world was such a better place with her in it. She was a force to be reckoned with – independent, stubborn, and very loyal to those she loved. She will be missed more than words can say. But her legacy and love for people will live on.
