In memory of someone very special – Joseph (Joey) Holland

After Joey’s sudden tragic passing I was able to share what had happened with all of his coworkers in smaller groups. The reaction from everyone was strong and very much the same.  First there was shock, disbelief and sadness that Joey was gone. Then both in the groups and later in conversation there was an outpouring of both emotions and thoughts. It was apparent that Joey was widely regarded for his intelligence, drive and talent as an incredible designer but also for his humble caring nature.  He was always ready to help others and was constantly going the extra mile.  He was that person that we all relied on.  There was no problem or challenge too large for him to solve.

I will personally miss Joey and the special person he was greatly.  On behalf of all of us at Murray Latta our heart goes out to his family at this trying time.

I met Joey one summer at Northern Cables. We talked for 10 to 15 minutes in the shop. Joey was a considerate and likable person. My condolences to the Holland family. Rest in Peace Joseph.

Joey was a very good friend of mine in Highschool.  Met him for the first time in Hospitality class and we cooked some great food, and it blossomed from there.  I used to look forward to that devious smile of his when I walked into TISS, his personality was so contagious.  

The last time I saw Joey was two years after highschool graduation, i was back in Brockville for the weekend and i found myself at the Phoenix.  He saw me, yelled my name, and ran over and hugged me.   I'll never forget that.  

This was an incredible person we lost way too soon.

We are so sorry for this terrible loss to your family. Joey was a great friend to Jack. He was always a polite and nice kid to have around our house. He often stopped by to visit and talk with us even when Jack had gone away to school. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this sad time.

i didn't know Joey all that well but we did work together on a few things at work.  His sudden passing was such a shock.  Joey was a very nice young man.

There are no words to describe how heartbroken we are. It was such a joy to watch Joey grow from the little guy running around the backyard to the teenager fascinated with his experience of a hurricane, and then the loving and kind young man he became. He will always be in our hearts and prayers.
