It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Born the youngest of 10 children in Guangdong Province, China, she was raised by her older sister when she was 6 years old after losing their mother in Guangzhou and moved to Hong Kong when she was 9 years old. She moved back to China to be with her father when she was 11 years old during the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong and then migrated back to Hong Kong when she was about 13 years old. In Hong Kong, a Japanese General offered to adopt her and take her with him to Japan, but she declined. Thankfully, she did decline, as she met the love of her life in Hong Kong at age 16 years while she was working as a dim sum server at a restaurant. She married on November 12, 1947 and started to raise a family. She then immigrated to Vancouver on October 8, 1972 to seek a better life and more opportunities for her family. She was devoted to raising all her children and grandchildren. She loved going out for meals with the family. It made her proud and brought her much joy to have the family together. She was a professional driver instructor for many years, helped to run the family gas station and mechanic business, was a great chef who cooked many Chinese New Year and Christmas meals for the whole family, enjoyed her many animals, and delighted herself at tending to her garden and roses. She is predeceased by her parents, 9 older siblings, and best friends (Ms. Law and Ms. Chan). She leaves behind her husband of 73 years of marriage: Sui Lun Tam, and will be greatly missed by her 7 children: Celia, Danny (Lillian), Benjamin (Julianna), Henry, Lily, Roland, and Simon (Betty). She is treasured by her 17 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, friends and extended family. May she rest in peace.
