Marilyn will always be remembered for her 3 bets, in our Texas Hold em games. She will never be forgotten!

She had a beautiful smile and the best freckles!  Marilyn was a close childhood friend,  she was generous and cheerful and my memories of our group playing outside on Grant Street always bring a smile.  so many fond memories.  At this time of year I remember too the beautiful tree and decorations  her mother displayed in the games room downstairs .   They always had a gumdrop tree that I have tried to copy many times over the years.   It was,  for me,  a wonderland.

I was a friend of Leya 's ,and remember Tyler as her little brother. We were childhood friends , as neighbors we were always playing in our yards, bike riding. I spent time with the family at their cottage. I was 9 years old when we moved to the okanagan, today as an adult it feels like yesterday, I send my condolences to Leya ,and Tyler ,Mr. Moore ,and family it has been many years ,however the memories are fresh today .Blessings to you all

Childhood memories of picnics at the beach.  Mrs.  (Grandma) Grice packed a picnic lunch and ordered a taxi to take all the children from Grant St to the beach at Stanley Park.  And Marilyn was my skating partner when we took lessons with Connaught Skating club.  We also took swimming lessons together at Crystal Pool.  We visited her grandma when she moved to English Bay.   I have many fond memories of our early years,  the family was very kind and generous to me and others on Grant St.
I am so sorry for for your loss.

The Torgets’ hearts go out to the entire Moore family and especially Ron, Leya and Tyler.  So many special memories of our family with Marilyn throughout the years and so many great times at Point Roberts. Ron and Marilyn have both been huge parts of not only my life but more so my Mom who also left us way too soon as well. Both Marilyn and my Mom were quite the pair and amazing athletes into their 70’s. 
I know you all have so many amazing memories of her that she will live on forever in your hearts.

Happy memories of Marilyn and how impressed we were by her athletic abilities.......and the joy she clearly experienced in exploring nature, in beautiful Vancouver and on wonderful trips with family as they traveled in other parts of the world.
The love within her family was always apparent, and our hearts go out to Ron, her children and grandchildren.

I am so happy that I was able to share one last adventure with Marilyn last year on a wonderful crazy canal trip in England. Heide and I were fortunate to have spent many holidays with Ron and Marilyn, I will always have these memories that still bring a smile to me. Countless card games, bickering about if the trail is a loop trail or not, and lots of glasses of wine. And Marilyn was so kind, generous and supportive to Heide when she was fighting against her cancer. She had a big heart and was one of my best friends. I will miss “ Lil Moop” and her endearing giving of the finger. Rest in peace Marilyn, you are always in my thoughts.


I was first introduced to the Moores in 1967. It was quite a group with the two Moore brothers,their wives and all the neighbourhood friends. We had picnics ending in pyramid building, ping-pong games, poker parties, costume parties ,Trivial Pursuit nights, games nights and of course a multitude of poker nights. Maple Beach poker nights and crib & golf tournaments & loads of fun. 
Marilyn was the glue that held us together.A big piece of our lives is missing now. My deepest sympathy to the Moore family. Farewell to my friend and the best scorekeeper ever.

At Maple Beach a trip to the tennis/pickleball court, or a walk or  bike ride that went past the park was never complete without either a friendly wave, a hello, or a chitchat with Marilyn and Ron, who frequently could be found relaxing on their front porch.  
Marilyn's smile brightened your day,  and her enthusiasm for so many things was contagious.  
She worked tirelessly behind the scene to enhance our summer community on the Point, helping to make it the special place that it is.
She will be missed very much by all of us.

I was so sad to hear of Marilyn’s passing. I played tennis with her for many years at the Town & Country.  She always had a big smile and an infectious laugh. She was always a bright spot on and off the tennis courts.  My condolences to her family.


To the Moore Family
I am so sorry that you have lost such a vibrant woman.   Marilyn was on our UBC tennis team and was a bright spark of a woman on the tennis court .  Her sense of humour made every match fun and she was a fierce competitor if you happened to be on the other side of the net.  She joined our team and helped us to get to the next league level with her incredible skill. She will be missed by so many people in the UBC tennis  world both on and off the court so please know that many are thinking of your family at this time and missing Marilyn along with you.

Memories will help fill the huge void Marilyn’s death has left ! 
My memory is her kindness, encouragement & non judgemental inclusiveness on the tennis court (I’d been off for years . ) which allowed me the confidence to show up every week and work really hard to improve !

The Kennedy family are very saddened by the news of Marilyn’s passing.  Our children grew up spending summers in Maple Beach learning how to play tennis from Ron and Marilyn.  Marilyn was always interested in talking to Megan, Adam and Chelsea as they grew up to become adults.  As for Dave and I, the stories of Marilyn and Ron’s cycle trips sparked an interest in doing our own cycle tours which we have continued since our retirement began.  They also helped introduce us to the sport of pickleball, a sport that we are now fully addicted to.  We will always remember the smiles, and her infectious laugh, and the way she took control of so many silent auctions in a way that made you proud to be one of her assistants.  Our summer community has lost a wonderful member.

My deepest condolences Leya to you and your family. It is never easy losing a loved one but losing our beloved mothers has got to be the most difficult.  The pictures that you shared of all of your fabulous trips that you took with your parents were always so fun to look at because you were all so full of smiles. You must have so many great memories, not only of your travels but of your many family get-togethers and stays at Point Roberts. I feared that your Mom was not well in your birthday posts and when I saw your post today I felt so sad. 
My Mom would have been 100 on Nov 8th. She lived to be 95 but I truly miss her every single day. I carry her lessons and her love with me every where I go and I am so thankful for all of the memories and life events that she was there for.  I am so sorry for your loss Leya. My prayers are with you as you travel thru this journey of grief with your family. Please take extra special care of yourself and let me know if there is any way that I can help. 

Mr. Moore, Leya, Tyler and family.  My heartfelt condolences.  The love Mrs. Moore had for everyone was always very evident.  She took all of us in as her own.  She always told me to call her Marilyn, but I never could.  I always felt so welcomed and included.  My heart is broken for the pain you are feeling, but know that her love is still surrounding you.

I played tennis with Marylin over the last few years.  She would drive out to the Tsawwassen bubble in the winter and from Point Roberts to the Ladner Tennis Club in summer. She was great fun, always upbeat and a good sport. She regaled me with her adventures in UK when she and Ron were ‘stuck’ there, making the most of every day.
She will be missed by her many friends on the court.

I'll always remember Marilyn as an avid dart  and volleyball player and  of course, sharing many a beer after our games.  I twice shared a long boat with Ron and Marilyn as we explored the canals of Scotland and England.  I wasn't the card shark that Marilyn was but enjoyed the time playing with them.  We shared many a glass of wine - much to Ron's dismay sometimes, but lots of laughs had by all. We'll all miss her dearly but my  sympathy goes out to Ron, Leya and Tyler and their families over their great loss.
