Mark Lionel Egger was born in Calgary on February 26, 1988 to Mark and Evelyn Egger, his loving and doting parents. He would complete their family, joining his sister Alyson Zanni Egger. Mark was a mischievous and energetic child, entertaining his family with his free spirit, and was willing to help anyone. He was fiercely loyal to his friends, and had strong passions for music, hockey, and wargaming. Mark was a hard worker academically, graduating high school from the International Baccalaureate program, and receiving recognition for his accomplishments amongst Indigenous students.
Following his passion for music, Mark moved to Vancouver to pursue recording arts, where he was supported by his Aunt Lori and Uncle Steve. During this time he worked on a number of albums, played bass in a band with his friends, and worked to realize his dreams. During his time there, Mark would discover a new passion in the culinary arts. Working as a cook with no formal training for a number of years, Mark's dedication to his craft saw him rise to become one of the best-respected head chefs in Vancouver, working at the acclaimed Espana restaurant with his unique approach to Spanish cooking. He would earn the honor of Best Restaurant in Vancouver's West End for three consecutive years.
Mark held himself to a high moral standard based on Jesus Christ's teachings on the essence of life. He was proud of his Indigenous heritage, and would share this with his friends and colleagues. Mark was always directly honest and would not back down from confrontation over what he knew was right, willing to practice compassion as well as speak of it. Mark was always willing to share in his passions with others, and could talk for hours about them.
Mark passed away on June 9, 2022, and is reunited with his granpdarents Mary "Nona" Egger, Evelyn "Nukmis" Wright, Mickey Laframboise, and Ronald Wright.
