Max was born March 17, 1977 in North Vancouver to his proud parents Ann-Louise (nee Kobierski) & Late Phillip Edward Whonnock. He was 40 years young and just shy of his 41st birthday. Max descends from Namgis First Nation’s Seaweed & Whonnock families; and Squamish Nation’s Charlie and Kobierski families. He grew up in North Vancouver and spent much of his time with friends and relatives on Mission IR #1 / Eslha7an. He graduated from Windsor Secondary School and was known best for his fantastic cooking skills and was a chef by trade. He played lacrosse, basketball, and loved to fish by dip net on Capilano River. His favourite pass time was bingo or the race track but will be remembered for his kind gentle ways, smile and laughter. Many of his family and relatives remember him echoing over and over again ‘I am proud of you’.
Max is survived by his loving grandmother Barbara; mom Syexwaliya / Ann Whonnock; sister Josephine (George); daughter Kirsten (Edward); son Jordan; godson & nephew Gavin; special brother Jonathan; & sister Adrienne ‘Ady’; special friend Chantelle John (Robert); uncles Patrick, James (Vanessa), George, Rick & Stephen; aunts Donna & Emma; special granny Sally (Bill); & godparents Vanessa Campbell & Jimmy Jacobs.
A prayer service will be held on March 12 (Mon) at 7:00 pm and a funeral service on March 13th at 10:00 am, both at Chief Joe Mathias Centre, 100 Capilano Road, North Vancouver, BC. On-line condolences can be found at www.GlenhavenMemorialChapel.com
