Michael Denis Cochlin (47), Liam James Purdy Cochlin (8), Quinn Ronald Purdy Cochlin (5), of Okotoks, Alberta died in a car crash Sunday February 23, 2020 while travelling near Kamloops. Michael was born in Edmonton, September 4, 1972. He lived his younger years in St. Albert and became a pilot and later obtained his AME (Aircraft Mechanics Engineering) certification and then turned his attention to the solar industry where his passion for green energy was evident. He took pride in believing he was contributing to leaving the planet more renewable for future generations. He loved rock climbing and was very involved with the rock-climbing community. He could be found holding a belay rope and chatting with people at the crag. His friends made him a shirt that said; “Walkin’ Talkin’ Michael Cochlin.” He believed that a stranger was a friend you hadn’t met yet. Mike was a dedicated father and husband, always planning for how to make things run smoothly around the household.
Liam was born in Calgary, Alberta June 13, 2011. He was in grade 3 at Good Shepherd in Okotoks. He was a sensitive soul who was known to take care of classmates in need of a friend or a helping hand. He enjoyed cross country skiing, rock-climbing and Jiu Jitsu. Liam commented that while his brother Quinn liked wrestling, he liked board games and puzzles. He was mechanically inclined and able to follow directions meticulously. Liam was a friend to everyone, with a gentle demeanour. He was very loving, would ask for special days with one parent at a time and loved spending time with his brother.
Quinn was born in Calgary, Alberta March 2, 2014. He was in kindergarten at Good Shepherd. He was called ‘Wreck it Ralph’ when he was younger. When he got older, he still wanted to wrestle but grew out of his nickname. Quinn also enjoyed cross country skiing, rock-climbing and Jiu Jitsu. When in the mountains, he was always enthusiastic about getting to the top. Quinn loved having family snuggles. He made friends easily and had a fun-loving personality.
Mike and sons leave behind their loving wife and mother, Erin Jeanne Purdy Cochlin. They also leave behind a brother and uncle, Warren, an auntie, Kerri-Lynne Cochlin, and nephews, niece and cousins Evan, Reese, and Kennedy.
