Orly was born in Bauan, Philippines on August 16th, 1944. Trained as an accountant at the University of the East, he emigrated to Toronto in 1974. In 1980, he moved his young family to Vancouver where he started a successful courier business. He helped his local Filipino community by giving driving instruction and providing income tax services. After he retired, he became an avid golfer and a regular at the Queen Elizabeth Park Pitch & Putt.
While he was highly unflappable, Orly beamed with pride when he was around family. He is survived by his loving and caring partner Ruth, with whom he traveled the world. He was a father to Christina, Alex, and Peter, and a doting “Lolo” to his treasured Ardenne. Orly also cherished his six siblings - Celing, Erning, Dita, Virgilio, Jose, and Esther.
Thank you to everyone who came from near and far to visit and bring him joy in his final days. We also extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Mount Saint Joseph Hospital, Raven Song Community Health Centre, and Home Instead for their compassionate care for Orly.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the BC Cancer Foundation.
If God would but grant me the power
Just to turn back the pages of time
I'd give all I own if I could but atone
To that silver haired daddy of mine
