Mum was fiercely independent, kind, talented, and wonderfully opinionated. While we often butted heads during the teenage years, as adults we grew much closer, forming a deep and lasting bond. She was also an indulgent dog-grandma, often asking about their well being before anything else in our conversations.
She was a master gardener, a gifted chef, and a creative costume maker. Throughout her life, she lived in several countries before settling in Vancouver, BC, to be closer to her siblings. Over the past twenty years, she dedicated herself to volunteering and giving back to her community.
Mum taught my brother and me the value of hard work, the courage to chase our dreams, and the importance of choosing happiness over money. She truly lived each day to the fullest.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no formal service. Instead, I invite you to honor her memory by planting a tree—a tribute that reflects her deep love of gardening. If you wish, you may do so through an organization such as Forests Canada: https://forestscanada.ca/en/product/donation
May she rest in peace—though knowing her, that likely means keeping busy rearranging parts of heaven, planting flowers, cooking delicious meals, and leading everyone in her joyful sing-along sessions.
May your memories of Mum be as bright and cherished as mine.
Blessings to you all. Raychel Leong-Sullins
