

He leaves Ruth, his wife of nearly 67 years, daughters Laura (Stuart Aird); Maureen (Angus McIlraith) and Joan; grandchildren Samuel Aird, Neil Aird, Alex Murie, Stacey Murie, Jack McIlraith, Morgan McIlraith and sister Leslie Penny (Rick). He was predeceased by his sister Dorothy Weimer, son-in-law Andy Murie, and granddaughter Emily Aird.
Ron was born and grew up in Edmonton, graduating from Victoria High School and the University of Alberta.
After earning his Bachelor of Commerce degree, Ron joined Gulf Oil and worked for the company for 34 years in various locations and positions across Alberta and in Toronto before joining the Human Resources department at Simon Fraser University, where he remained until his retirement at age 65.
Retirement involved extensive travel around the world with Ruth; curling at the Richmond Curling Club, and golfing with the Seniors group at Country Meadows Golf Club in Richmond. The couple were also active members of St. Phillips Anglican Church, Dunbar, in Vancouver.
A memorial service for Ron will be held on Tuesday, May 30, at 11 a.m., at St. Philip’s Anglican Church, 3737 W 27th Ave W, Vancouver.
