Born on January 3, 1959, Sam lived a life marked by hard work, quiet strength, and an unwavering love for the simple pleasures. A dedicated longshoreman, he took great pride in his work and the camaraderie he shared with his fellow workers on the docks. His work ethic and easygoing nature left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Outside of work, Sam found joy in staying active—he was a familiar face at the gym, where he found both strength and community. But it was in nature, especially at Trout Lake, where he was truly at peace. Whether people watching or simply enjoying the view while walking his dog, those were his happiest days.
Family meant everything to Sam and his bond with his brother was one of deep connection and laughter. He was also rarely seen without his loyal dog, Kongo, who was both companion and best friend.
Sam will be remembered for his quiet humor, his strong yet gentle spirit, and the love he carried for those around him. He leaves behind family, friends, coworkers, and a legacy of hard work, kindness, and loyalty.
Sam was predeceased by his parents Antonio and Maria, his brother Joe, and sisters Caterina and Josie. He will live on in the hearts of his brother Santo, nieces Melissa and Kristina and nephew Michael, as well as extended family members both in Canada and Italy.
A gathering for family and friends will be held on Wednesday June 11 at 12:30 pm in the chapel of Glenhaven Memorial Chapel 1835 East Hastings Street, Vancouver. Entombment will follow in the Grand Mausoleum at Ocean View Burial Park 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby.
Salvatore will be missed dearly, but his spirit will live on in the lives he touched.
