In 1958, Tom was one of the co-founders of The Ex-Gladstone Rugby Club (later to be renamed The Red Lions RFC). Tom played rugby for many years, during which time he made many friends and helped the team gain ownership of their own clubhouse. In his last few years as a player, he was joined on the rugby team by his four sons. For many weekends, even after Tom had stopped playing, the whole family including Pat and Kim could be found at the rugby pitch. During this time, Tom’s passion for running became his primary indulgence. He enjoyed running half and full marathons, continuing his running well into his sixties.
In his later years, it was still fun to watch his eyes light up when his beloved Patsy, walked into the room. Tom’s spirit and determination will be missed by all.
