Born on January 1st, 1944, in San Narciso, Zambales, Philippines, Violeta (also known as “Lita” to family and friends) was the daughter of Paciencia Cabansag and Frederico Labrador, also parents to her older brother, Rogelio, and younger brother Frederico, Jr.
Violeta spent her early years living and working in the Philippines, including employment in the 1960’s at Subic Bay, where she befriended Dominica Hatud, who eventually introduced Lita to her younger brother, Claro. It was love at first sight. Claro and Lita married, had two children, Jerry and Maria, and in the early 1970’s, immigrated to Vancouver, BC, Canada, where they built a beautiful life, a happy and loving home, for their family.
Lita was a loving wife, mom, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was “everyone’s mom”, always welcoming and embracing her children's and grandchildren’s friends into her home. She had more than enough love to go around. Mom was blessed with many “second sons” and “second daughters”. In the same light, she was also “everyone’s sister” and best friend. Those who knew her will remember her soft and welcoming demeanor, her cooking (she was a fabulous cook), her devotion to family, her work ethic, and her compassion.
Violeta is survived by her husband, Claro Blanco Hatud, and by her children, Jerry Hatud (Mariaberie Hatud) and Maria Foran (Troy Foran), her grandchildren, Jerome Hatud, Tyler Foran (Andrea Conrod), Meghan Hatud, and Nyah Foran, and her great-granddaughter, Isla Foran. She is also survived by siblings, Delfin C. Flojo (Catalina C. Flojo), Rosalyn F. Paulo (Dante A. Paulo), Meriam F. Dela Cruz, and Violeta Labrador, the surviving wife of her brother, Rogelio Labrador, who left this earth on January 3, 2026.
She will be dearly missed by all those whose lives she touched.
