December 26, 1953 - March 3, 2020
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the untimely passing of Bill Jones. Bill was an exceptional father, husband and good friend to so many. He will be deeply missed by all those who loved him dearly. Surrounded by his wife, Nancy, his children, Connor, Madison and Matthew, and his sister, Jacqueline, Bill passed away peacefully in the early hours of Tuesday, March 3, 2020. Bill lived a very full life despite it ending too soon.
Bill's devotion to Nancy was limitless. She was his soul mate and the light of his life. Together they proved to be a remarkable team and their marriage was an example to their children of what true love was. Nancy was his "partner-in-crime", his biggest supporter and she was there to hold his hand until the very end.
He cherished his children and was an immensely proud father. He wholeheartedly supported his kids in every aspect of their lives. Like all great dads, he always found time to protect, teach and nurture his kids. Nearing the end of his life, it gave him great pride in knowing that they had all become very accomplished, each finding their own unique paths to happiness and success. It also gave him much joy knowing that his children loved him unconditionally.
Born in Vancouver in 1953, Bill grew up, went to school and lived most of his life in this city where he established himself as a highly successful businessman. In doing so he developed an unparalleled circle of friends, as he proved himself time and time again to be a true gentleman, a person of integrity, fairness and fun. Working alongside Bill was always a pleasure and, at times, quite an experience.
Bill had an incredible zest for life coupled with his highly inquisitive nature. Although he passed much too young, he lived his life to the fullest. With an insatiable passion for travel, he sought out many of the World's wonders over several oceans and across 6 continents. From scaling Machu Pichu, to searching out the gorillas of Rwanda, to admiring the Moai on Easter Island, each trip for him was about finding inspiration and learning. While he did love to travel the globe, he was always happiest at home with his wife, his children and his friends.
For nearly two years, Bill battled cancer with unwavering optimism, strength and courage. He felt fortunate to have such supportive family and friends through it all and his humour and positive attitude continually inspired those around him. The family is extremely grateful for the exceptional care Bill received from the entire team at VGH and BC Cancer, with a special thank you to Dr. Scudamore and Dr. Lim, who went above and beyond to help him in his fight.
Friends and family will cherish every memory with Bill. He will forever be missed and forever be loved.
A date for the Celebration of Bill's life will be forthcoming. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of your choice.
