He came to Vancouver at 16 years old with $17 and a dream (which he spent on a chocolate bar from a vending machine!).
Xen was an exceptional human being whose strength, intelligence, motivation, and love for life kept him going. He always made an impact wherever he went, touching the lives of all those around him with his effervescent energy and generous heart. He was a warrior, a vibrant soul who fought so hard the last four years of his life. He had previously won the battle with cancer in 2014, before it returned in 2021.
Xen’s passion was encompassed in everything he did. Over his career, he accomplished anything and everything he put his mind to. Some may be baffled at how a belly dancer could become a very successful businessman; but that was just Xen. Nothing could stop his desires and will to share his zest for life with whom he surrounded himself with. He worked his way up from dishwasher to owner of a successful tv repair company, to actor, to restauranteur; and finally, in his later years, he became a successful and wise investor in the real estate industry. Besides his career, he made sure to put time into his health and fitness regime daily, setting the bar for his family, loved ones, and friends. Xen’s true perseverance really shone through even during his hardest battle; even when cancer made it challenging for him, he would still be seen outside exercising on the bars, whether that was in Hawaii or at home in Vancouver. This was who he was; a fighter, a man who never gave up.
Xen loved his family deeply, as well as being incredibly passionate about his heritage and his roots. He taught his daughters about the world, took them to many incredible places, and gave them endless amounts of life lessons, or “crash courses” as he would say. He was prepared for any situation, always looking ahead and for a problem to solve. He left a legacy; an empire, that will be carried on by his daughters. His strong presence and positivity impacted many people and inspired those who were lucky enough to know him.
He is survived by his wife Sandra, daughters Anna and Athena, brothers Ari, George and Argyris, his sisters Aphrodite and Niki, and lastly, his long awaited soon to be grandson.
He will be dearly missed everyday by his family and those close to him. May his legacy be remembered and spoken of for eternity.
Xen will be entombed in the mausoleum at Forest Lawn Memorial Park on March 18th, 2025.
