Eva Yen Kan Chow (née Choo), aged 72, of Vancouver, Canada, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, at Lakeview Care Home, following a long and courageous journey with Parkinson’s disease.
Born on October 14, 1953, in Panyu, Guangzhou, China, Eva was the fourth child of Choo Keung Choi and Sum Chow Kwai. At the age of three, she moved with her family to Hong Kong. In 1968, the family continued their journey abroad, settling in Lima, Peru, where Eva spent her formative years and learned Spanish. In 1974, she made her final move to Vancouver, Canada — a place she would come to call home, where she devoted her life to family, friendship, and community.
Upon arriving in Vancouver, Eva began studying English at the King Edward Campus. There, she formed enduring friendships and met Steven Chow, who would become her devoted husband of 48 years. Having shared similar paths — leaving China at a young age, growing up in South America, and building new lives in Canada — their bond was grounded in mutual understanding, perseverance, and love.
Eva and Steven were married in 1978 and together created a warm and loving home. They welcomed their first child, Audrey, in 1979, followed by Edward in 1981 and Adela in 1984. Family remained at the heart of Eva’s life, and she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to nurturing and caring for those around her.
Eva found great joy in cooking and gardening, pursuits through which she expressed her generosity and devotion. Even after long days of work, she delighted in learning new recipes and refining her culinary skills. Her kitchen was a place of gathering and comfort, always filled with the aromas of meals prepared with patience and love. When not cooking, she could often be found tending her vegetable garden, carefully growing beans, tomatoes, leafy greens, and even figs. During the winter months, she enjoyed knitting and crafting, creating with the same care and thoughtfulness that defined all she did.
Through quiet acts of kindness and steadfast dedication to family and friends, Eva showed her love not through words alone but through constant care and presence. Her warmth, resilience, and generous spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Eva was predeceased by her parents, her sister Karen, and her brother Luis. She is survived by her brother John, her beloved husband Steven, and her three children, Audrey, Edward, and Adela, who carry forward her legacy of love, strength, and compassion.
She will be deeply mourned, forever cherished, and lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and all whose lives were enriched by her presence.
