Barbara Lee Ellis, lifelong resident of Vancouver, WA, passed away on July 4, 2011. She was born March 10, 1933 to George and Teresa Dewey in Vancouver, one of three children.
Barbara met her soul mate and best friend, Clarence Ellis, and were married on Sept. 17, 1949. Barbara and Clarence lived many years on Lower River Road and had many adventures on the river. They raised four children as well as a granddaughter.
Mom had many talents: her jam and jelly making, keeping us all supplied in blackberry jam, baking for the family during the holidays, always insisting on making all the pies for family get-togethers. She was a great help on her daughters farm, and loved to volunteer at the Red Cross.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Clarence; daughter, Betty (Randy) Goggin of Brush Prairie, WA; sons, Bill, Leroy (Keri), Dean (Denna), all of Vancouver; five grandchildren, Corrine, Patrick, Kate, Leesa and Amy; four great-grandchildren, Jade, Killian, Alyssa and Brianna; and her sister, Margery Danner of Texarkana, TX.
She was proceeded in death by her parents; brothers, Alan of Vancouver and George Howard of Seattle.
A memorial service will be held at Vancouver Funeral Chapel Wed., July 13 at 10:00 a.m., reception to follow.
