Frances Daisy (Wilson) Velarde was born in Clark County on February 15, 1925 to Hubert and Vera Wilson. Daisy grew up on the family farm and later moved to California, living in various cities (Crockett, Santa Barbara, Almaden) until she settled in San Jose, California where she lived for most of her adult life. She loved San Jose for the sunny weather and never tired of it.
She was an accomplished businesswoman who worked as a bookkeeper and retail manager at several businesses throughout the years. She was a devout Catholic and devoted many hours volunteering at Queen of Apostles Church, and teaching CCD to the parish children.
After retirement she and her husband Rick moved to Hagerman, Idaho where they enjoyed fishing and small town life.
Daisy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and her family was most important to her. In her 80’s, in assisted living, she discovered a talent for painting watercolor landscapes and she was as surprised as everyone else that she had this talent. She always welcomed visiting family members with open arms and loved to cook her Italian specialties for them.
Daisy is survived by her daughter, Debra (Velarde) Bridges and husband David of Elbert, Colorado; granddaughters Heidi Bridges and Heather (Bridges) Lukashin; sisters Bobbie Kern and Dolores Robb; nieces and nephews, and many extended family members. Daisy was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sisters Leona, Iona, Gladys, and brother Dick.
Daisy will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
