Irene A. Fischer

Irene married Norman A. Fischer in 1943. Irene worked for Pacific Northwest Bell in Oregon. She and Norman moved to their “Fischer 40” in La Center, WA and enjoyed many years tending the farm. It was the site for many family picnics, wedding and baby showers and holiday celebrations.

Irene worked for Pacific Northwest Bell beginning as a secretary and retired as Benefits Manager. She was active in the Telephone Pioneers of America, a community service organization of active and retired telephone employees. She was very active at Highland Lutheran Church and Soroptimist International of Portland.

Survivors include her son, David Fischer (Pat) of Tigard, OR; daughter, Kaye (Fischer) Ney of La Center; son, Kim Fischer (Donna) of Everett, WA; 4 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Anna Kingsfather and brother, Eddie Buschert. She was predeceased by husband, Norman A. Fischer; her parents, Melvin and Lydia Buschert; brothers Lewis and Bill Buschert and grandson, Travis Ney.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on June 23, 2012 at Highland Lutheran Church, La Center, WA. A private interment will be at Willamette National Cemetery.
