John Franklin Smith

John met his present wife, LaVerne, in the doughnut shop she was working in 1983. They were married a few years later in Carson City, NV. John loved traveling in their RV, gardening; working in the kitchen and helping LaVerne can all of the vegetables they grew in their garden. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing, golf and a good bottle of Scotch.

John will be remembered most for his sense of humor, the “gift of gab” and always being willing to help others. He loved his family very much.

John and LaVerne moved to the Clark County area in 2001 from California, settling in the Amboy area where they created their magnificent garden. They also became members of the Battle Ground Foursquare Church in 2005.

John is survived by his wife, LaVerne; siblings; Ed Smith, David Smith and his children, Francine Smith, John Smith, Jr., Dana Smith, Denyse MacMillan, Keri Luttrell, Verna Lewis, Loreen Davis, Larry McPheeters, Kim Decker, Michael Ward; 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Vancouver Funeral Chapel, 110 E 12th St., Vancouver, WA on July 2, 2015 at 1:00pm.
