Sam grew up in Portland, attending school there. He was always a classic car enthusiast, even as a high school student. He belonged to several classic car clubs, including the original El Camino Club, which was started in the 1960’s by Jack Rutland, V.I.P. Classic and North County Cruisers. He loved talking to people, especially about classic cars. If you wanted to find Samuel, first check to see if there were any car shows in the area. It didn’t matter if they were indoor or outdoor, he loved them all. His pride and joy was his tangerine orange and pearl white ’53 Chevy.
Sam worked as a local truck driver from 1964-1998. He belonged to the Teamsters locals 81 and 58. While picking up product at Nabisco, he met the love of his life, Bonnie, in 1971. They were married the following year at the wedding chapel in downtown Vancouver.
Sam is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Bonnie; and son, Dan Mullen. He is preceded in death by his son, Tim Mullen; and brothers, Vince, Pat, Jack and Don.
