
Walter was born in St. Joseph, MO in 1915. He graduated from Christian Brothers High School, and St. Joseph Junior College.
Walter is survived by two daughters; Janet Shrader, Vancouver, WA and Carolyn Syata, San Rafel, CA; and a sister Mary Chleborad, St. Joseph, MO.
Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Jean and a daughter, Marsha, Vancouver, WA. He was also preceded by his parents, Julius and Katherine Syata: a sister, Josephine Komer; and three brothers, John Syata and George Syata, all of St. Joseph, MO and Frank Syata, Hope, AK.
He served in the military in WWII reaching the rank of captain. He was
also very involved in community organizations such as the Kiwanis Club.
He retired from Lucky Larger Brewery where he was the general
brewmaster until 1972. He was a member of Royal Oaks Country Club where he was an avid golfer. He was also a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic parish.
A private service will be held and Mr. Syata will be placed with his wife at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.
