

was born October 9th,1923, in Mannington, West Virginia to Roy and Ruth Ballew.
Anna, fondly known as Annie, grew up loving singing and dancing, especially with
her sister, Doris Lee, who admired her all of her life. She was always an excellent
student and an impressive drum major leading the band at Mannington High School. In
1940, Anna was the first woman to earn the National Rifle Championship and the coveted "Whistler Boy Trophy". This honor won her a place on the US Olympic Team She was named Outstanding Athlete of West Virginia that same year. The press coined her the "Annie Oakley of West Virginia".
As a young adult Anna moved to Chillicothe, Ohio where she met the love of her life, James (Jimmie) McQuade. They were married Nov 20, 1948. Their love story of 67 years was one that brought joy to their family and many others as well.
Anna's children, Becky, Lee, Mike and Peggy were always so loved and supported through their lives by their Mom. All of them enjoyed many wonderful moments and memories with her both in Ohio and Florida.
Anna's career was an impressive and gratifying one, where she was an Executive Secretary to the CEO of the Mead Corporation. After retiring from her position at Mead, Jimmie and Annie moved to sunny Florida, to live their dreams of retirement.
Anna's last four years were spent at Banyan Assisted Living, where she was so
lovingly cared for. To all of the caring staff she was fondly known as "Sweet Anna".

Anna was predeceased in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Jimmie and her son, Mike McQuade, her grandson Michael L. Williamson, and her great granddaughter, Julie Evans. She is survived by her daughters, Becky Byers, Peggy Williamson, and her son, Lee McQuade, her sister, Doris Lee Dutton,grandchildren Paul, Wayne, Mark, and Sam Evans, Amy McQuade and Scott and Kris Williamson, great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Sabrina and Zander Evans, Maegan and Kylee Evans, Andrew Bernet, and Michael A. Williamson. Anna also had many nieces, nephews and cousins with whom she shared her love and many happy times.
Anna was a good listener and was always there to comfort and support anyone who needed her help or guidance. She was happiest when she was boating, fishing, spending time at the beach, swimming or sunbathing, finding shells and sharks teeth, but most of all sharing time with family during their many visits. The time spent with family and friends was her greatest joy in life, and held her most treasured memories.
Anna will be dearly missed by all who knew her and experienced her love and beautiful life. Whether you knew her as Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, Sis, Anna or Aunt Annie, her light and warm smile will remain with us always.
A Memorial Service celebrating Anna's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 27, 2021, at Gulf Pines Memorial Park 2401Englewood Road, Englewood, Florida 34223.
