Barry was born to parents Elizabeth and William Moore on January 23rd, 1940, in Phillipsburg, New Jersey. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, honor, and remarkable adventures.
A towering man in stature and character, Barry led a life that left an indelible mark on those around him. His warmth, intelligence, quick wit, and penchant for laughter endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Barry's journey began with a spirited youth marked by mischievous antics and a thirst for adventure. He excelled in athletics, playing football, and competing in track during high school. His academic journey led him to Penn State, where he graduated in 1961 with a bachelor's degree in business, having never missed a party along the way.
After graduation, Barry felt drawn to serve his country and embarked on a distinguished military career with the U.S. Marine Corps. He completed rigorous training and served with distinction, including assignments in Okinawa and Vietnam, where he demonstrated unwavering commitment to his fellow servicemen.
Upon his return to civilian life, Barry ventured into the world of publishing and printing, where he found his true calling. Over the course of 37 years, he made significant contributions to the field, leaving an indelible impact on educational publishing and sales.
His professional and military achievements notwithstanding, Barry truly cherished his role as a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his loving children, Kevin and Bridgette, and their spouses, Stephanie and Dan, respectively. Barry's grandchildren, Alexandra, Kara, Michelle, Amberly, Wyatt, and great-granddaughter Sophia, who affectionately called him “Grumpy,” brought immeasurable joy to his life.
Barry's journey was not without its challenges, including the loss of his beloved wife, Patsy, in 2009. However, he found solace and companionship in his later years with Janet Specht, with whom he shared a deep bond and cherished moments of tranquility in their beloved Englewood community.
Barry's life was a testament to resilience, courage, and the enduring power of love. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
A private service will be held to honor his life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barry's honor to Habitat for Humanity and/or the ReesSpecht Life Foundation.
Barry Moore sought relative anonymity in life, but his impact on the world and the lives he touched will resonate for generations to come. True to the Marines' motto, Semper Fidelis, Barry remained faithful in every endeavor. May he rest in peace, knowing that his legacy will endure.
